Completing this quest requires careful preparation, specific equipment, and resource gathering across the valley.
Unlocking and Starting the Quest
To begin this quest, you must reach Friendship Level 10 with Scrooge McDuck and unlock key biomes including the Glade of Trust, Forest of Valor, Frosted Heights, and Forgotten Lands. Speaking with Scrooge initiates the mission as he hands over a restored treasure map featuring magical inscriptions. Examining the map in your inventory unlocks a memory that reveals hidden spots across the valley.
Before searching for the hidden items, speak with Scrooge again to obtain the Lenses of Shadow. Equipping these specialized glasses from your Wardrobe menu allows you to see invisible dig sites. Without wearing them, the quest items will remain completely hidden from view.
Finding the Hidden Key Pieces and Chest
With the Lenses of Shadow equipped, head to the Glade of Trust to locate the first key piece near the southeastern boundary. Use your Royal Shovel on the glowing dig spot to unearth the initial part of the broken key. The second key piece is hidden in the southern section of the Forest of Valor near the pillar.
The final component is the treasure chest itself, which is located in the Frosted Heights region. Head toward the northeastern corner near the pillar to dig up the locked chest. Once all three items are in your inventory, return to Scrooge McDuck to report your findings.
Crafting the Key and Claiming Rewards
Scrooge informs you that repairing the ancient key requires two Gold Ingots, which can be crafted using gold nuggets and coal. You can mine gold nuggets from rock nodes inside the Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights, or Forgotten Lands. Once gathered, head to any crafting bench to assemble the Gold Ingots under the Refined Material tab.
Navigate to the Functional Items category at the crafting table to combine the key pieces with the Gold Ingots to forge the repaired key. Deliver both the repaired key and the treasure chest to Scrooge to conclude the storyline. As a reward for your efforts, Scrooge grants you 2,000 Star Coins and his iconic decorative safe.
